OOC: Okay, what do I do? Only
two of five people posted, should I NPC everyone else? There will be round
based activities behind the door... as soon as I post, everyone will be saying
they would have done other things...

Frem spent some of his magical energies on a spell
to slowly heal Niacin's grisly wounds, and then he began to root through the
stores of goods and materials that had been looted from caravans in the
outlying area for a chisel. Or a drill, or anything that could let him open a
discreet hole through the doors ahead of them, but unfortunately couldn't find
anything that would fit the bill. So instead, the Archivist chose to hold the
lantern aloft to shed light for the others, and hang to the back of the crowd.
Brethil made sure that Niacin had received some
healing before he concentrated his own divine healing on himself, which healed
the last of his physical wounds completely. He still felt the weariness of the
previous days battle, but continued on regardless, closer to the back of the
group with Frem.
Switch came forward at the urging of the others and
checked the door once again for traps, and found none to be present, before he
took his place in the line behind Niacin.
Niacin stood directly behind Olin as he watched the
rogue check for traps, with his short sword unsheathed and ready.
Olin recalled that Switch and himself had checked
for traps at this door the previous day, and had found none. The cleric placed
himself before the door and opened it
to behold a corridor that led off a short distance before it turned to the
south. Switch returned to the front of the line and began to check for traps
along the way, and after turning to the south, the corridor stretched for
another twenty feet. There it hooked to the east for another thirty feet.
Switch continued to check for traps along the way before he ended at a dead
end. There, the rogue found another secret door! Switch searched it and found
no traps or locks. He quickly took his place behind Olin and Niacin.

had a hard month guys. I won't lie, some is a bit of laziness on my part, but
since my Dad passed, my Mom's mood and health have been slowly deteriorating to
the point where I've become worried. So I'm spending a lot more time with her
and keeping an eye on her. I don't plan on stopping, or quitting, but the speed
of my posting will definitely be slow. I apologize for this. If anyone wants to
bail, I completely understand, I just wanted to keep you all informed. I
certainly hope next year turns out better.
hope everyone had a great Christmas, and I wish a Happy New Year for all of
you, as well as your loved ones.

Olin, a bit surprised to find himself in the rare position
of being the first that could act on what they'd stumbled upon, calls out
gruffly to those behind him with a warning! "Three orcs!" The
Heironean cleric releases his tightened grip and lets the now useless javelin
fall to the floor as he sets himself into motion, and draws his longsword as he
approaches the robed orc, and swings on her with a high arcing attack! (DRR
8+5=13 miss) The orc manages to avoid the near hit, twisting her robed body
just in time!
Switch runs into the room behind Olin, but turns right
instead of left to follow the cleric, as he draws a dagger from his belt. The
rogue stops short of the melee, and with the blade of his dagger between thumb
and forefinger, hurls his weapon at the robed orc as well! (DRR 17+6=23 hit, 1
damage) The blade flies true and sticks into the female orc's left hip, but
does not stay embedded and falls to the floor at her feet.
Brethil watches intently as Olin disappears through the door
and to the left, and Switch to the right, and hears the grunts and shouts of
surprise shortly after the cleric's rough call of "Three orcs!"
Brethil steels himself for more fighting, and moves forward quickly through the
central pivoting door and stops just before their new enemy. The older paladin
has his mighty composite longbow in hand by then, and fires an arrow (DRR
17+1=18 hit, 9 damage!) right into the robed orc's upper right thigh! Cat
follows along part way, but stops between Frem and Niacin to lick something
dark from it's paw.
Niacin watches the events unfold before him, as his team
mates rush forward into the fray. The paladin readies his shield, and...

picture of how things are going. Back in the saddle, feels good!
Question for you all, would you rather have the maps in the
separate thread like I've been doing, or behind a spoiler prompt, like here?

In general the Archivist thought it bad form to make war on another person when they are sitting down to a meal. Still, why were they sitting down to a meal instead of searching for intruders? Even if they did not notice the blood or the bodies he tried to get everyone to hide DIDN'T THEY NOTICE A LOT FEWER PEOPLE LINING UP FOR CHOW LATELY?!?Idiots!Frem made an effort to move just inside the room and took a spot in the corner to the right from the door. From there he should be able to light up the whole room. From there he cast Daze on the furthest orc from his position there.OOC: Whichever is the furthest orc at the time. Does not matter whom. I'm worried about flanking or running off to call more orcs.

Niacin watches the events unfold before him, as his team
mates rush forward into the fray. The paladin readies his shield, and turns to
the left just as the Hin passes through the centrally swinging door, making way
for the Archivist to enter if he wishes to.
The robed orc scowls fiercely and barks out commands in
guttural orcish to the other females around the fire as she moves quickly to
the back of the room. Olin sees an opportunity to take a free swing at the robed orc (AoO DRR 2+5=7 miss) but fails to connect. Once in the corner, she mutters softly and contorts her hands in what looks like the casting of a spell,
as the orc eyes Brethil malevolently.
The first female orc warrior rushes toward Switch and swings
a light mace for all she's worth at the rogue, (DRR 13+3=16 hit, 6+2=8 damage!)
The female's weapon smashes into Switch's upraised arm, and the rogue can feel
something definitely broken inside of him.
The second female orc comes right for Olin, and swings her
own light mace at the cleric (DRR 14+3=17 hit, 6+2=8 damage!) and the Heironean
watches as if in slow motion as the head of the mace avoids his shield and
smashes into his chest, causing intense pain and shortness of breath for a few
Frem makes an effort to enter the room and clear the
doorway, stepping in right behind the wounded rogue as he fumed internally.
Once settled into the near corner, Frem then cast a Dazing spell on the
furthest orc in the room, the robed figure.
