OK, I give up. :x

Like that's ever going to happen. :)

"It's not fair. It's not fair." Where's the fairness problem?

Are PCs that started at 1st level going to be overwhelmed by PCs that start higher? I don't buy it. Moderator subjectivity causes inconsistencies like this now. At least if they all start at 10th level at the same time with the same guidelines, they are closer together as a group.

Are players that worked years to develop a 7th level character going to be upset that someone can now match that in 10 minutes? Maybe, but guess what? There's not a whole lot of them and they can create new 7th level characters too. And maybe we'll get a few more players to stick around if they stop worrying about how long it takes to advance to 10th level and can focus on just playing a PC that has the skills they like.

Will everyone stop playing 1st level PCs? Well, if that's what everyone wants and GMs want to moderate higher level adventures, then where's the problem? If GM's don't want to run higher level campaigns, then we have a whole different issue...

I'm my mind, "Because it's always been that way" is a terrible argument especially with the dynamic user population that we have. I see the current rules as an unnecessary restriction and the new idea as having far more positives to few negatives.

But, in the end, the consensus will decide and so far it's against. If that's the case, then perhaps we should explore the definition of a "version 2 PC" that exists in the same manner as MPCs. If a GM wants to permit a higher level starting PC, then he helps the player advance the PC through the PZ and makes a clear note in the comments section that this PC didn't "earn" the higher levels (and in the new PZ, they could actually be flagged more prominently). The GM can then mix&match "version 1 PCs" and "version 2 PCs" as he desires with the idea that "version 1 PCs" have the right to not want to play with "version 2 PCs" just like they don't have to play with MPCs.

We don't need a whole new board to facilitate this desire.
