Well, I voted against high level campaigns. Here are my reasons.

The whole thing about RPG is the RP! It's all about taking a 1st level, using your skill, killing the bad guys and monsters, interacting with others, THEN gaining levels and treasure.

You get to grow with the character. You get to know their personality, and their strengths and weaknesses. If you start with a 10th level character, how well do you really know the character?

Here are 2 examples. Zoya almost lost her twin brother in a battle. She went almost mad with rage, grief and a need for revenge. Would this have set her off on the path of evil? I have no intention of turning her evil, yet if in the game, if something happened to her twin, she might turn that way.

Also, I have a cleric in a vampire game. I didn't plan on making him hate vampires, but as the game progresses and if SGM Jonathan doesn't kill him :b I'm going to make him a vampire stalker/killer. I think. Maybe. It depends how the game turns out. Maybe he will become one of those clerics that hunts the undead. Ya just never know.

So, characters grow as they adventure. If I started Zoya at 10th level, I would have missed a lot of her personality quirks that make her so fun to play. And Nobkins would be just another cleric healing the fighters.

If people want a high level game, start an adventure that promises to move the characters up quickly. Of course that means more fighting and RP'ing. And it also means more character deaths. Oh well, them's the breaks. The whole point of the game is growing with the characters.

Thats my thought on the subject.
Zoya Cobbler is a young woman, standing 5'4 with sandy red hair and green eyes. She is a bit flirtatious but takes her magic seriously.
