The request for this very subject was in small part due to the veritable lack of higher level characters on the board. I run a group right now that ranges from 5 to 8 in level. The cyclic nature of PBP is that eventually most grow tired of it and move on. I've seen sixth level characters that just stopped posting for no apparant reason. Those hard-core gamers that have been around since the beginning seems to be having a harder and harder time finding those who are close in level to journey with. If you hit 20th level and play with a couple other folks of like level and in the year of that game both those other guys disappear into the vapor-like mists of the internet, would you prefer to then play all alone, not play at all, or perhaps play with some characters that got a 'jump start'?

It isn't *the* reason why someone would start a higher level campaign as suggested above, but it is a viable point of discussion.

I will agree that one does grow more attached to their characters over time, of that there is no doubt. :)

It has been discussed that allowing the 10th lvl start characters to mingle across the board would not be 'fair' to other characters, and I tend to agree. However, it was also mentioned that those who started out from the beginning would/should always have the option to play with those characters. Some really wouldn't mind, while others abhore the thought....

Off subject, but actually on a related issue, are you looking for a game to play in right now Ignats? Your character's name was mentioned specifically as several of the members of that higher level group have disappeared in the last few months, and I was discussing with the group the [lack of] potential for replacements. If you are currently not occupied, or alternatively if you and your GM are both favorable to concurrents, I have a chapter 3 coming up to my Dim Forest saga that would love to have you along.
