I sat back for a bit to see if the added advertisement brought any new perspectives to this. I guess not. So here's my response to some of the recent comments.

1. It still hasn't been made clear (to me at least - and I can admittedly be dense ;) ) what the issue of fairness is. In light of the vast differences in existing moderation, xp and monetary rewards and general roleplaying paths, I don't see how we can compare even existing PCs without finding inequities. And provided the new PCs are created "by-the-book" (ie. standard level advancement, starting funds = DMG suggested values), we at least keep the new breed of PCs on somewhat even footing.

2. Regardless of what's fair or not, I really wasn't ever concerned about trying to match existing PCs with the new, pre-advanced PCs. Personally, I'm not against mixing and matching, but I understand (though not entirely why) that others are against it.

3. My primary issue has always been one of simply providing choice. Regardless of how many vote against this idea, there is obviously some group of people that are. Many of them are obviously frustrated by and may quit because of the pace of PBP RP rewards. In light of the permissability of MPCs on a by-moderator basis, I don't see why adding pre-advanced PCs as another option to fill a declared desire is seen as so evil.

Regarding Jonathan's new poll:

a. Yes high lvl campaigns in this Board
It's clear this won't fly if we simply take a majority ruling. There is a clear faction that won't accept this as a global addition.

b. Yes High lvl campaigns in a new board
If it's on a new board, we don't need a vote. Forming a new board basically means splitting out the "renegade faction". They could do that now if they want without any permission.

Here is probably a key issue of mine. I like the depth and breadth that this board brings together. With a single focal website, you can play in 20+ cities with 30+ moderators. If all I wanted was to play in a high level adventure, I could go elsewhere now. I don't want to. I like this community and I simply want to see if we can make it a little better.

c. No High lvl Campaigns related to CORE
This certainly is a viable option and quickly settles the debate. If folks don't like slow-advancement and want to get to play high level PCs, they have to go elsewhere. This is probably why we lose some players already. What a shame - there might have been some good RPers in there.:\

d. Yes high lvl campiagns here in one selected forum
Of the four, this is the one that seems the most in line with the "spirit" of CORE Greyhawk as I've come to know it. Jonathan - I know this whole idea is kind of like dressing up your son in drag but your baby has grown up. He's got new friends and, although we like him in drag, we're not bad people.:lol

I would (and have already) proposed a slight alteration to this final option. Make Pre-advanced high level PCs an option identical to MPCs. Individual moderators can decide if they like it. PCs of this variety are clearly flagged (this can easily be done via a single comment in the PZ - I can make it even clearer in the next PZ). This way moderators can tell if a PC isn't built to their liking and other players can be told if they are in such a campaign and can avoid it if they don't like it.

Basically, let the masses decide what they want freely.
