Throughout the days, even in the pouring rain, Nydilind reports back happily, reporting nothing out of the ordinary. Each night she stays with the group in camp, wandering away from the campsite during her shift while keeping a secure watch.

When Nydilind first reports the Inn in sight, she appears a little more nervous and less upbeat. She clearly has enjoyed the time alone in the woods and with the small group, and is not looking forwards to returning to the indoors and the "city life."

When Horek and Accolan make clear their intentions of staying in the out-of-doors, she again appears happy. After they setup camp near the Inn, she takes Horek out for the evening's hunt. She takes the time to carefully and quietly show him how to track the creatures of the night and see where they have been and where they are going. She points out ways to be quiet when moving through the forest and where to get vantage points on the enemy, even if the enemy is little more than a large rabbit. When Horek asks about the weaknesses of giants, Nydilind apologetically cannot provide any more information. "I know much about shape-changers, but little about the weaknesses of giants." But she does point out weaknesses in various other woodland animals and residents.

After the hunt, she returns to their makeshift campsite, within shouting distance of the Inn and wonders how people can get used to sleeping indoors on such soft surfaces and without the sounds of the night. She offers to take first watch for the small group outdoors.
