The next morning as Anavren speaks to Kerry, Anavren laughs a friendly laugh at Kerrys words. Kerry, even when I spoke to the cleric, what did I tell him? I told him that Id be upset if he were to attract danger to the party, didnt I? I said that because I was thinking of everyone else, not just myself. As for caring about how others perceive you, I believe that those who curb their behavior to appease others are the lesser for it. Think about how many discoveries, or philosophies, or advances would have been stifled if it had not been for outspoken who hadnt a care in the world about the opinions of those who sought to curtail their actions. I believe wed live in a much more dismal world if we let fools dictate our courses of action. I believe in unfettered living, Kerry, because I believe it is the best for everyone, not just me. So, I disagree that I have only my own interests at heart, or that I should act in a manner that will always garner approval. It may be hard to see the truth of my words, but if you think about it, youll see that I am right.

My father, eh? Yes, I love him still, and I do long for his acceptance, but he sought to corral me because he loved me. He didnt want to see his only child lost in battle. I understand his arguments, and I stayed at home rather than leaving until the end of the Wars. I gave him what he wanted: his son to live through the wars. However, I cannot live a fettered life. I demand freedom. Anything less would sap my spirit. I left so I wouldnt be so bitter at him for trying to restrain me.

As for viewing the party members by their strengths, we can agree on that to some extent. However, Im not going to allow someones weakness to bring the party into harms way. Think about it, if the cleric doesnt attract enemies, we may not ever need his skills, but if his howling attracts an orc patrol that we would have otherwise avoided, he may very well create a need for his skills. Similarly, if hes too drunk to see a hidden danger, again, he may make his skills necessary. You MUST be able to see that I had the partys best interests at heart when I spoke to him. Id be the first one to admit that I was less than tactful, but everyone else would have to admit that they severely misunderstood me."

Anavren beams with happiness as Kerry states that she will allow him to walk with her. Then he continues on with seriousness and urgency. Look, Kerry, I don't want the party divided. I too hope and pray that the issue is never raised or discussed. I think well need our numbers in our coming trials. Promise me that you will advocate the party sticking, and working together, though. I think it will be the best for all of us, the bishops of Rao, and the Flanaeness.

Anavren again looks happy that Kerry will at least entertain the idea of discussing the magical arts with him. With that, Anavren takes up a position within the main group of the party near Kerry. Anavren seems to forget that another party may be ahead of them. Anavren does his best to question Kerry about magic, and to learn from her.
