Following the others into the darkness, Tanner is both excited and fearful of what lies ahead. Will this back entrance give them the element of surprise they'll need? Are Xenephon and Glennifar to be trusted? Is this Yuan-Ti clever enough to have planned this entire thing as a trap?

Knowing that there will be no easy anwers to these questions, Tanner grips his crossbow, keeps his eyes on open and hopes for the best.

Once in the cell at the end of the passage, Tanner offers up his Potion of Spider Climb. "I think that it would be better to have someone strong enough to move the grating use this potion. It would be a waste to have me climb up only to not be able to budge the cover. Then, once we know it's clear, you can drop a rope and the rest of us can follow. What do you think?"
