Looking Gruden squarely in the face, Ludio says "Slavery may be what is in store, but no one can put chains on your spirit. My father used to say "Look at the trees. They are subject to the axeman's fury, yet everywhere you look there is a tree standing strong and proud, defying the axeman." We shall be like the trees, you and I, and await the moment where freedom calls to us." Ludio sometimes finds himself speaking with over bearing passion. When the moment fades however, he always feels a little awkward.
Running his hand down the scars on his face he adds "Besides, we may not be all alone in our state." Ludio points at the fast fading figure of the woman with the shawl.
Extending his hand to Gruden, he fixes him a solid stare and adds "Take my hand and consider it my oath, we will gain our freedom. And our vengence besides."
Waiting a moment for Gruden to take his hand, Ludio nods and plops himself beside his friend. Ludio looks up to the stars and contemplates his increasingly wonderous journeys. What a ride!! As a side note, Ludio doesn't feel like he has improved poor Grudens travels any. With that fleeting though, Ludio drifts off to sleep.
